Any reasonable person may apply for a loan to pay their property taxes. By policy, we will not deny credit to any person based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, or if you receive public assistance of any kind. Loans are available to adults age 18 to 65. Individuals over the age of 65 or to anyone that is disabled individuals are not eligible for a loan as they receive special assistance from the taxing authorities.

Alimony and child support payments are not required to be disclosed when making a loan application. However, consideration of alimony and/or child support payments in support of a loan application can be used, if you provide:

  • a recorded divorce decree,
  • the decree requires payments that extend beyond three years, and
  • you can provide evidence of regular alimony and/or child support payments that are made to you.

We cannot request this information on your behalf unless your spouse or former spouse agrees to be contractually liable for the loan. We can consider income that is derived from any or all of the following:

  • public assistance,
  • part-time employment,
  • pension payments,
  • annuity payments,
  • retirement payments, and
  • alimony and/or child support payments.

If you are currently married, you may apply for a loan in your name or you may apply for a loan and have a your spouse co-sign the loan.

Credit is not denied to anyone based on their sex or their marital status. If you are married, your spouse must sign the documentation because Texas is a community property state. Your spouse must sign the documentation if you rely on child support and/or alimony income from a former spouse.
